Our Story
We are the shopkeepers. You are the customer.
Barrel & Flask is a family-run tasting spiritorium in Naples, Florida. Three generations of us work in the store. We opened because we spent a year and a lot of our own money learning that the best way to find spirits you love is to taste them first.
How It Started
A year of tasting, roughly five thousand dollars, and one thing we could not unlearn.
We are not a chain and we are not credentialed critics. Greg is a civil engineer by trade. This is the family's first retail business. The whole thing started because our son Will turned twenty-one and could not figure out which spirits he was actually going to enjoy.
So we did the only thing that made sense. We spent about a year and roughly five thousand dollars at the big-box stores working through it, bottle by bottle, figuring out what we liked and what we did not.
What we learned was uncomfortable and clarifying at the same time. Shopping by price is not good enough. Shopping by reputation is not good enough. Bottles at the bottom of the shelf turned out to be fantastic. Bottles at the top of the shelf turned out to be disappointing and not worth the money. In the end it comes down to one thing: what the person holding the glass actually enjoys.
The idea took shape during the pandemic. Four years later the store opened. Today three generations of the family work behind the counter, and the shop is built around the lesson we spent a year learning.
We are the shopkeepers. You are the customer. When it comes to taste, the only opinion that matters is yours.

Our Philosophy
“When it comes to taste, the only opinion that matters, is yours.”
We love the rare and the overlooked, the bottle with a story, the distiller doing it the hard way. We are enthusiasts, not authorities. Our job is to help you find what you like, not tell you what you should.
The People
Every review mentions them by name.
The best thing on our shelves is the people standing in front of them. Greg, Sara, Will, Rob, and Chris are enthusiasts first, and they love a good conversation about what to pour next.
Greg
Owner & Manager
Ask him about the rare and lesser-known bottles most shops never carry. He is the reason a lot of them are on the shelf.
Sara
Owner & Business Manager
Ask her about the shop, the neighborhood, or what makes a great gift bottle. She keeps the whole place running.
Will
Owner & Assistant Manager
Ask him to walk you through a tasting flight and help you land on something you love.
Rob
Assistant Manager & Spirits Guide
Ask him what he has been pouring lately. He has a running short list of favorites and no hesitation about sharing them.
Chris
Spirits Guide
Ask him for a recommendation. He has one for every occasion, and none of them come with a lecture.
